Lango Administration

The Lango Administration Panel lets you manage all Lango app settings in Confluence Cloud. This includes configuring external translation providers, managing glossaries, restricting available languages, and more.

Accessing the Control Panel

To access the Lango Administration Panel, follow these steps:

1. Open the Confluence Settings:

   • Navigate to the Confluence settings from your Confluence dashboard.

2. Find the Lango App Section:

   • In the settings menu, search for the Lango App section.

   • Click on the “Languages & Translator” link.

Enabling machine translation

You need to configure an external translation provider to enable machine translation in Confluence Cloud using the Lango extension. You can configure and use multiple providers simultaneously and choose the best one during translation, based on your needs.

Lango supports the following providers:

Set up the connection

Click the "Add Provider" button and choose your preferred provider. A configuration window will open where you can enter the necessary setup details. Once completed, Lango will validate the connection, and the provider will be shown as active.

How to choose the right provider - Useful tips

Lango is a highly flexible product compatible with a wide variety of translation providers. You will have access to two types of providers, each with different output characteristics and costs.

Classic providers

Classic providers such as DeepL, Google Translate, and Azure specialize in translating texts and documents. They are fast in translations and often offer free plans with a generous number of translatable characters per month.
These providers may show a degradation in translation quality for complex pages or those with many formatting styles.
Choose one of these providers if you need a basic translation at a low cost.

LLM-based providers

This category includes providers that use LLMs (Large Language Models), such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or other AI-based services. These models are not limited to simple text translation but can understand context, tone, and intent, producing results that are often more natural and closer to human translation.

An LLM can handle complex pages, content with strong formatting, or texts rich in nuances and technical terminology, maintaining greater consistency and accuracy.

The main drawback is that these services generally cost more. LLM providers use a usage-based pricing model, calculated in tokens (small units representing portions of text processed by the model). The total cost depends on the number of tokens required for a translation, meaning that longer or more complex pages will consume more tokens and therefore result in a higher overall cost.

Choose an LLM-based provider when translation quality, tone consistency, and contextual accuracy are priorities for your content.
