Configuring Google Cloud Translator

Google Cloud Translator offers a free tier of 500,000 translated characters each month. To utilize this service for translating content, you need a Google Cloud Platform account with billing enabled and a service account key. Follow the official Google instructions to create an account and enable billing.

Connect Google Translator to Lango

  • Access the Lango admin panel and click the "Add Provider" button

  • Upload your Google Cloud Service account key and click Save

  • After saving, the key will be encrypted and no longer visible. Ensure you have kept a copy of your service account key securely stored

Lango will verify your configuration. Once verified, the provider will be set as active and default.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, consider the following common causes:

  • Invalid Service Account Key: Ensure the uploaded file is the correct service account key downloaded from Google Cloud;

  • API Activation: Verify that the Google Cloud Translator API is activated on your Google account

  • Insufficient Permissions: Check that your service account has the necessary permissions to access the Cloud Translator API. Review the IAM settings for your service account

  • Billing Issues: Confirm that billing is active on your Google account and that you have a valid payment method
